🔥 Anger Is Energy: What Happens When You Stop Suppressing It
I’ve always had an uneasy relationship with anger.
When it rises, I usually do what I’ve learned to do—avoid it. I change the subject in my mind, distract myself, focus on something else. I don’t like how it feels in my body. I don’t like the stories it tells me about other people. So I try to suppress it.
🧠Old Pattern: Suppress and Distract
But suppressing it doesn’t make it go away. It just turns inward.
I start feeling guilty. I judge myself for being upset. I stew in resentment—or worse, I aim that anger at myself.
Last night, though, I tried something different.
I didn’t avoid the anger. I didn’t act on it either. I just sat with it.
🛑 New Pattern: Sit With It, Don’t Act On It
I let the emotion rise in my body. I let it well up like a wave.
I didn’t suppress it. I didn’t follow its storyline. I just felt it.
And something surprising happened.
🔥 Feeling It Fully—Without Resistance
After noticing the tightness in my shoulders and chest, I felt an immense wave of heat welling up inside me.
It was like I was a gun—and my barrel had just been reloaded.
I found energy.
Clarity.
Movement.
My mind sharpened. I started seeing solutions.
I felt empowered—not to lash out, but to act wisely and effectively.
🧪 Emotional Alchemy: Witnessing the Shift
It made me realize:
Anger isn’t bad. It’s energy.
It’s fuel. It can protect us, sharpen us, even inspire us.
When we don’t suppress or explode, we can actually alchemize anger into action.
Maybe emotions aren’t meant to be controlled.
Maybe they’re meant to be felt, witnessed, and transformed.
